your appointment, we realize that other concerns may come up
when you're not with us. So we've compiled this list of our most
commonly asked questions, including answers designed to help
you understand our practice and philosophy. If there's anything
concerning you that we've not covered here, please feel free

How do the doctors keep up to date on all of the current techniques
and materials?
| Both Dr. Gatewood and Dr. Stephens subscribe to the latest
industry journals and actively attend monthly study clubs
to keep tabs on research and development in the dental
industry. And both also take time on a regular basis for
continuing education, logging between 20 and 30 hours per
year, and including our staff in one major CE event annually.
Dr. Stephens has completed extra courses on Implants, and
both doctors are involved monthly in a local Study Club
as a forum for keeping up with the latest in advances in
methods and materials. |

How can I have whiter teeth?
| We are pleased to offer an in-house laser whitening procedure
as well as a two-week at-home supervised program. First,
we'll evaluate your potential for whitening your teeth,
based on their current color and the causes of any discoloration.
Many patients opt for the laser technique as a 'jump start'
to the process, following this up with the 2 week "Opalescence" program. Most patients can expect to end up
with teeth approximately 2 shades brighter on the dental
shade chart. |

I really don't like visiting the dentist. What can you do
to help me relax?
We understand how anxious many people can be about
visiting the dentist. That's why we strive to create
a relaxing atmosphere. For example, we take the time
to talk with you, listen to your concerns, and help
you feel comfortable about every aspect of your treatment
ahead of time. We also have personal headphones available
for every treatment room, so that you can listen to
CDs or watch one of our many satellite TV channels
to help you relax.
If necessary, we also offer nitrous
oxide or a prescription oral sedative prior to treatments
for patients who are extremely anxious or where the
procedure is very complex. We're also equipped with
an anesthesiologist to provide services for certain
procedures. When you come in for your evaluation, just
let us know how you're feeling, and we'll work together
with you to put you completely at ease. |

I want my front teeth to look better, but I don't want to
wear braces, what can you do to help?
| We have a number of ways to improve the look of your front teeth. Depending on
your current situation and your objectives, we can evaluate how a bit of reshaping
and the addition of porcelain veneers or porcelain crowns might provide your
teeth with a bright, new, uniform look. Or, you may be surprised at how a little
moving and whitening can actually provide excellent long-term results. And
with today's invisible braces, no one has to know that you're doing anything
to your teeth! |
