What to Expect During Your First Visit

As always, completing your new patient form before your first appointment is best. If you don’t have time to do that or want help filling out the form, you can arrive 15-30 minutes before your appointment and do it in our office. Don’t forget: if you’re coming to us from another dentist, have them send your charts, x-rays, and other information. 

We’ll review your forms and go over them with you, asking for any clarifications we need to understand your condition. We’ll also listen to your concerns and treatment goals. We want to know whether you have any health concerns, functional needs, or cosmetic aspirations that your smile isn’t meeting. 

Your dentist will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums, including checking for cavities, tooth decay, and gum disease. We’ll likely take X-rays unless you have a recent set that’s sufficient. 

Your hygienist will clean and polish your teeth. This doesn’t just help them look great; it helps keep them healthy. 

We’ll create a treatment plan based on the state of your smile and your personal goals. Whenever possible, we’ll offer treatment options so you can choose the best fit for your goal and any limitations such as budget, schedule, or treatment preferences. 

Throughout the appointment, we encourage you to ask any questions. We’ll answer all dentistry questions and refer the others to the proper authorities.
